The gutter line is a favourite path for possums. They climb a downpipe, a fence or a nearby tree, walk along the gutter and look for a gap behind it. Once behind the fascia, a possum can move straight into the eaves and roof space. Sealing is usually done with mesh or metal strips fitted behind the gutter, so water still drains and the fix is hard to see from the street. Where fascia timber is too rotted to hold a fitting, the crew will tell you so you can arrange a carpenter. They will not cover over rotten timber and leave it to get worse.
